CranioSacral Therapy
1. What is CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy enhances body functioning and helps alleviate pain and discomfort. The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the cranium (bones of the skull, face and mouth) to the sacrum (tailbone area).
2. For which conditions is it helpful?
Since the craniosacral system directly influences the growth and performance of the brain and spinal cord, a restriction or imbalance in it may cause sensory, motor or neurological disabilities. These conditions could include:
- Eye and ear difficulties
- Chronic pain
- Stress-related problems
- Learning disabilities
- Motor-coordination impairments
3. Is it gentle? Who may benefit?
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your own healing mechanisms to challenge the negative effects of stress on your central nervous system. You benefit from improved overall health and resistance to disease. A light touch is used to test for restrictions in the craniosacral system. Restrictions are most easily felt in the skull and sacrum because these bones attach to the membranes that enclose the cerebrospinal fluid. The beauty of this gentle therapy is that it relies to a large extent on your body's natural self-corrective activities. CranioSacral Therapy is excellent for clients of all ages: from day 1 to age 91! |
